This is card A271 from Hans Horina’s series done for the J.I. Austen Company of Chicago. I must confess that whatever humour is supposed to be found here eludes me. I’m guessing this is a play on some bit of period slang.

It sounds like something you'd find in a newspaper sports story, two men will be out for ten days for injuries.
